Hi pretty people,
I am 22 years old & just now found out how to keep my oily skin under control.
I have tried a plethora of different "remedies" for oily skin & none seemed better than the rest. That is until one day I was on Pinterest and I came across a pin that was "tips for oily skin." Of course I clicked on it with my fingers and toes crossed hopeful that it was something that would finally work for me. WELL two things that stood out the most were homemade exfoliates for oily skin and Milk of Magnesia. I'm in no way saying this will work for everyone, but it worked for me!
I tried homemade exfoliates before so I wasn't too sure about it. One day when I got home from work I started mixing concoctions together. I started with baking soda & Lemons, hated it. Moved on to Aspirin and Lemon juice, though it was good for inflammation it didn't help my oil sitch (I use sitch for situation. Don’t make fun). There were like 5 more that I tried & I was unsuccessful which each one. Until the last one I tried. Okay, here it goes; 2 Tbsp of baking soda, 2 Tbsp of honey, 2tsp of water, and 2Tbsp of raw sugar (the brown stuff) & then lastly for a better smell I put a dash of pure vanilla. OH MY GOSH. Not only did it smell amazing, but it actually worked. I also started using it on my lips to get all the dead skin off. My face felt amazing even hours after using it. I highly recommend trying it. Oh & even though it smells like heaven DO NOT taste it, it’s terrible.
Okay, so the Milk of Magnesia, for those of you with oily skin try putting it on before you apply you foundation. Take an old makeup brush and just brush it on. Your face will become white, but just apply your make up over it. This is just amazing. I love it! If I have an event outside or I'm going to an outside bar with my friends, my face stays oil free for hours upon hours. Those of you with combination skin I would recommend two-three times a week applying the Milk of Magnesia and letting it sit for 15 min then wash off with warm water. WARNING: Milk of Magnesia can dry out your skin so use your moisturizers ladies!
Oh & I carry around blotting sheets also. Just in case I see a little shine coming on!
